Mercedes GLA engine trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Mercedes GLA with a gasoline engine is experiencing significant issues, including a check engine light, reduced power, excessive smoke during acceleration, rough idling, high fuel consumption, and a loud hissing sound. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning EGR valve, which may be jammed. A similar case was resolved by replacing the EGR valve, suggesting that professional inspection and repair are advisable to address the problem and ensure compliance with emissions tests.

Yeah, fuel consumption has gone through the roof! It is affecting the fuel consumption quite a bit. Did you have the same loud hissing sound? What did you end up doing to fix yours?

No hissing sound for me, but definitely the other symptoms. Honestly, I didn't mess with it myself. Took it straight to the workshop. Turned out to be the EGR valve. They replaced it, and the problem went away. Best to get it checked professionally, especially if you're worried about the emissions test.

Thanks! Appreciate the insight. I was hoping it was something simple, but EGR valve seems to be the culprit. I'll take it to the shop then. They quoted me about 355€ for the automotive repair. Hopefully, that'll sort it out!

Sounds familiar. I have a Mercedes GLA too, and I had similar issues last year. Check engine light, rough idle, and a bit of hesitation. Could be the EGR valve, like you said. Is it affecting your fuel consumption?
