Mercedes GLA radio reception problems
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Mercedes GLA is experiencing poor radio reception, with static noise and audio cutouts, accompanied by an error message indicating a defective antenna. The issue could be due to a faulty antenna, a malfunctioning signal amplifier, or a loose antenna wire. It is suggested to have a professional workshop diagnose and potentially replace the antenna to resolve the problem.

Signal amplifier? I hadn't thought about that. Where would I even find that on a GLA? And where would I check the antenna wire?

Honestly, finding the signal amplifier and tracing the antenna wire on a modern Mercedes can be a pain. My Volvo was much simpler. Given the error code and your description, it really does sound like a defective antenna. It is probably best to take it to a workshop and have them diagnose it properly. I ended up doing that with my Volvo.

You know what, you're probably right. I'll book it in for a checkup. The workshop already quoted me around 255€ for a new antenna, so that sounds like the likely cause. Thanks for the advice!

Sounds frustrating! I actually had a similar problem with my old Volvo, though it was a different brand, the symptoms were the same. Poor signal, lots of static noise. Did you check the signal amplifier? Sometimes those go bad. Is it possible the antenna wire came loose?
