Mercedes GLC AC Problems

My 2015 Mercedes GLC with a gasoline engine AC has quit working. It's blowing hot air, or nothing, and the system isn't even trying to start. I've read it could be valves failing, leading to a refrigerant leak. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be the AC relay, blower motor, or pressure switch?

I had similar trouble with my old Vauxhall Astra. Check for a refrigerant leak first. Does the compressor clutch engage when you turn on the AC? If not, it could be low refrigerant or a faulty pressure switch. Also, have you checked the AC relay and the blower motor fuse? Those are the usual suspects for 'no AC at all'.

How would I check the compressor clutch? I'm not completely clueless, but cars aren't my forte. And where is the AC relay hiding? I've looked a bit but haven't found it.

Checking the clutch can be tricky without the right tools. You're looking to see if the center part of the compressor pulley spins when the AC is on. For the AC relay, check your owner's manual; it should have a diagram. With those symptoms, and if you're not confident, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. Sounds like more than just a fuse.

I took it in. It WAS a faulty valve within the AC system causing a massive refrigerant leak, just like I feared. They replaced it and refilled the refrigerant. 1000€ lighter, but at least I'm not melting anymore. Thanks for the nudge to get it checked out!
