Mercedes GLC Diesel Auxiliary Heater Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Mercedes GLC diesel owner experienced an issue with their auxiliary heater; it wouldn't activate and displayed an error code. Possible causes considered included a faulty glow plug, a problem with the temperature sensor, or a coolant leak. Another person recommended checking the glow plug relay and suggested proper diagnostics to avoid guesswork. Finally, the problem was diagnosed as a defective glow plug, which was fixed at a workshop for approximately 440€, restoring the heater's functionality.

Relay, huh I hadn't considered that Where is that located typically And no, nothing seemed off beforehand It just decided one day to quit Also, if it is the glow plug, is it something I can tackle myself, or am I looking at a specialized tool situation

The relay location can vary, check your car's manual Accessing the glow plug itself usually requires some specialized tools, and depending on its location, it can be a pain to reach Since you mentioned error codes, I would strongly advise getting it properly diagnosed My problem was also the glow plug and the bill came to around 440€ It's often better to bite the bullet and go to a workshop

Yep, you're right Bit the bullet and took it in Turns out it WAS the glow plug The final bill matched your estimate, roughly 440€ Everything's working perfectly now Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it

I had a similar issue with my GLC The symptoms sound familiar Have you checked the auxiliary heater's glow plug relay That can also cause problems A defective glow plug is often the culprit, but without proper diagnostics, you're just guessing Did you notice any unusual behavior before the heater stopped working altogether
