Mercedes GLC Electrical Malfunction and Navigation Failure

My 2023 Mercedes GLC with a gasoline engine is showing a general electrical malfunction and navigation system failure, with error memory indicating implausible control unit programming. I suspect recalibration is needed. Would a software reset be viable before the 240€ repair?

Implausible control unit programming on a '23 GLC? That's strange. The onboard diagnostics usually catch glitches. Have you tried a basic software reset? Disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes sometimes clears minor issues. It's worth trying before paying for recalibration.

When you mention a basic software reset, are you referring to a hard reset by disconnecting the battery, or is there a Mercedes-specific control unit procedure I should know about? I want to avoid unintended consequences.

Yes, I meant a hard reset via battery disconnect. I don't know of a Mercedes-specific procedure for a simple reset. Since it's a control unit programming issue, it might not fix it. With those symptoms, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the proper tools for recalibration.

Understood. The battery disconnect didn't change anything. Based on your assessment, I will proceed with a professional recalibration of the control unit. Thanks for confirming that step is likely necessary.
