Mercedes GLC Hybrid Engine Oil Temperature Warning

My 2022 Mercedes GLC hybrid is acting up It has 164830 km and the engine oil temperature warning light is on There's also an error stored and sometimes the oil pressure light comes on Could a faulty engine oil temperature sensor be causing this The garage suspects a defective cable or plug connection Has anyone experienced similar engine temperature sensor issues Is the car sensor likely to be the cause They're quoting around 95€ for the repair

That does sound frustrating Is the engine actually overheating, or is it just the warning light Have you checked the oil level recently Sometimes a low oil level can trigger false readings from the oil temperature sensor

Thanks for the quick response The engine doesn't seem to be overheating I checked the oil level, and it seems fine Could a faulty temp sensor really cause the oil pressure light to come on intermittently, even if the oil level is correct

It's unusual for a faulty oil temperature sensor to directly trigger the oil pressure light, but modern cars are complex Since the oil level is fine and the engine isn't overheating, it does sound like a sensor or wiring issue Given the error codes and symptoms, and the fact that they are familiar with the mercedes, having the workshop check the sensor and its connections is probably the best course of action They should be able to pinpoint the exact problem

You were absolutely right I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a corroded connector on the oil temperature sensor cable, just as they suspected They cleaned it, replaced a short section of damaged wire, and the warning lights are gone Thanks so much for the advice; it helped me feel more confident in the diagnosis
