He didn't specify the exact location of the leak only mentioning the actuator valve I'm not very mechanically inclined Where exactly should I be looking for these hoses and the turbo wastegate I’ve had similar issues on a previous car where the garage replaced the entire turbo when it was just a perished hose

If the mechanic suspects the actuator valve it's best to have it properly diagnosed A boost leak can cause all those symptoms and it's linked to the turbo system so it's probably related Given the engine stalls at idle and you're not comfortable doing the repair take it to a shop

Thanks for the advice I took it to a more specialized shop Turns out it was indeed the boost pressure actuator valve just like the first mechanic suspected Replacing it seems to have solved all the issues Check engine light is gone power is back no more whistling or hissing and the engine idles smoothly now Fuel consumption seems normal again too The 250€ repair cost was spot on

Sounds like a boost leak Have you checked the turbo wastegate or any of the hoses connected to the turbo system A faulty actuator valve will definitely cause those symptoms Did the mechanic mention where the boost leak might be specifically
