Mercedes GLE Hybrid High Voltage Error
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mercedes GLE Hybrid was experiencing a high-voltage system error, causing the engine to shut off and reduced power. The issue was suspected to be related to the high-voltage battery, but it was suggested that the 12V auxiliary battery could also be the cause. After checking, it was found that the 12V battery was faulty, and replacing it resolved the problem.

Thanks, a scan pointed to the high-voltage battery. I haven't checked the 12V auxiliary battery yet. Could a weak auxiliary battery really cause a high-voltage system error? I thought they were separate.

Yes. The 12V auxiliary system often helps the high-voltage system work. A low charge or problem with the 12V battery can cause wrong codes and issues in the high-voltage system. I still suggest a certified hybrid technician check it out.

Thank you for the advice. I had the 12V battery checked, and it was bad, causing problems with the high-voltage system. Replacing it fixed everything. The cost was 290€, which is much better than I expected.

I understand your concern. Similar symptoms happened with a 2019 Volvo XC90 T8 I worked on. It had a depleted high-voltage battery and a faulty charging module. Has the car had a diagnostic scan to check the fault codes? Also, have you checked the 12V auxiliary battery? A bad one can cause errors in the high-voltage system.
