Whoa, sounds like a mess I had a similar issue with my old Volvo, though it wasn't a hybrid It turned out to be a CAN bus connectivity issue throwing all sorts of weird codes and causing the car to act up The mechanic initially suspected a software glitch, but it ended up being a corroded wiring issue near the ECU Is the mechanic able to pinpoint exactly which control unit is throwing the communication fault That might give you a better idea of where to start looking for the wiring issue

That's interesting about the Volvo I'm not sure which control unit is specifically having the issue The mechanic just said 'control unit communication error' on the report Is there a way to figure that out without specialized equipment

Honestly, without proper diagnostic tools, it's going to be tough to pinpoint the exact control unit In my case, the Volvo dealer had to use their diagnostic software to read the specific error codes Given that you're experiencing overheating and coolant loss, it's probably best to get it to a Mercedes specialist who can properly diagnose the communication fault and check for any related damage from the overpressure Ignoring it could lead to more expensive repairs down the line

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of I took your advice and brought it to a Mercedes specialist Turns out it was indeed a defective plug connection to the coolant temperature sensor, causing the communication fault They replaced the plug, and everything seems to be running smoothly now The repair cost me about 95€ Appreciate the help
