Mercedes GLE Hybrid Undervoltage Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mercedes GLE hybrid owner reported an 'Undervoltage' warning, poor starting, flickering lights, and weak battery performance. The issue was suspected to be either a simple battery health problem or a more complex voltage regulator issue. After advice to test the battery, it was confirmed that the battery was heavily discharged. Replacing the battery resolved the electrical problems.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't measured the voltage drop specifically, but I did use one of those cheap battery testers you plug into the cigarette lighter, and it indicated a pretty low voltage. Do you remember what your eventual repair was, and roughly what it cost?

I did not measure the voltage drop myself, a workshop did. In my case, the diagnosis confirmed the low voltage and pointed to a defective battery. Given your symptoms and the undervoltage warning, it mirrors my experience. I advise that you have the battery properly tested before assuming anything else. I encourage you to visit a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks. Your advice has been really helpful! I took it to a workshop, and you were right – it turned out to be a heavily discharged battery. Replacing it solved all the problems. The total repair cost was 290€, which I was expecting. Appreciate the help!

I own a GLE as well, though I must admit I am not a mechanic. I experienced a similar issue a while back, and it also involved a low voltage situation. Did you by any chance measure the voltage drop while attempting to start the engine? It would be wise to ascertain if your battery is indeed heavily discharged or defective before looking at other potential causes of your electrical problem.
