Mercedes GLS Camshaft Sensor Issue

My 2019 Mercedes GLS gasoline engine with 168416 km is throwing a camshaft sensor error. It has rough starts, feels like reduced engine power, and the check engine light is on. The code points to the camshaft sensor. I read it could be a faulty cable or plug connection. Has anyone else seen this? I'm thinking of checking the connections myself before I shell out 95€ for a new sensor. I don't want a stalling engine.

Experienced similar issues on my Mercedes. Check the crankshaft sensor too. Sensor failure can lead to unexpected automotive sensor issues. Also, check the wiring harness for any damage. A break there could mimic a faulty sensor.

The crankshaft sensor too? Interesting. So, even if the error code specifically mentions the camshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor could be the culprit? How did you figure that out? Did yours throw a specific crankshaft sensor code?

Not a specific code initially, no. My mechanic said that a faulty signal from one could affect the other, like a domino effect. Since you're getting poor starts and reduced power, it's worth investigating. I'd advise taking it to a workshop rather than risking misdiagnosis.

Appreciate the insight. I didn't think of the domino effect between the crankshaft and camshaft sensors. I ended up taking it to the shop, and you were spot on about the wiring harness. It was damaged. They repaired the connection and the sensor is now working fine. Thanks for the help!
