Mercedes GLS diesel audio system silent
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Mercedes GLS diesel experienced a complete audio system failure with no sound output. The issue was identified as a defective bass speaker, which can cause the entire system to fail. The suggested solution was to have the speaker checked at a workshop, which confirmed the problem and led to a successful repair.

Thanks for the reply. No, there wasn't any sound distortion. It just went silent all of a sudden. If it was the bass speaker, would that cause the entire system to fail like that?

Yes, that's exactly what happened to mine. Apparently, when the bass speaker goes, it can take down the whole system. It's a weird design flaw, in my opinion. I would suggest taking it to a workshop and having them check the speaker. I bet that's the problem.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was indeed a defective bass speaker. The repair cost was 280€. I appreciate your help!

I had a similar issue with my GLS, though I can't remember what year it is. Complete radio silence. No sound from any source. For me, it turned out to be a defective bass speaker. Do you notice any sound distortion before the audio completely cut out?
