Air-fuel ratio How would I even check that If it IS off is that a definite sign of the LMM being the culprit or could there be other causes for the higher fuel consumption and smoke issues

You would need an OBD scanner to check the air-fuel ratio While the LMM is a likely cause other things like vacuum leaks could also be to blame Given the symptoms the LMM is a prime suspect Honestly with those symptoms I would probably just take it to a workshop to confirm It saves time and potential headaches

Thanks for the input I ended up taking it to the shop and you were right it was the mass air flow meter It cost me around 365€ to get it sorted Fuel economy seems back to normal now and there is no more smoke I appreciate the insights

Sounds familiar I had a similar problem with my GLS Stalling and the check engine light are classic symptoms Have you checked the air-fuel ratio A faulty mass air flow sensor often messes that up It is worth investigating further but it could be the LMM
