Mercedes GLS Diesel Stalling and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mercedes GLS diesel is experiencing stalling at idle, reduced engine power, and a check engine light, suspected to be caused by a faulty fuel volume regulator or high-pressure pump. Another owner with similar issues confirmed that both components were indeed the problem. The recommended solution is to have these parts checked and replaced by a workshop to resolve the rough idling and power loss.

The rough idling is terrible, especially when it's cold. Acceleration feels sluggish, almost like the fuel injection is struggling. Was your issue the fuel regulator too?

Yep, it was the fuel regulator. High pressure pump was the culprit too. The workshop confirmed it. Get it checked out soon; it won't improve on its own.

Thanks for the info! Just got back from the shop. You were spot on – fuel volume regulator and high pressure pump. Total cost: 1510€. I appreciate the heads up; at least I knew what to expect.

That sounds familiar. I had something similar happen with my GLS. Check engine light and reduced engine power are no fun. Was it also idling rough, like it wanted to quit? Did you notice any difference when accelerating?
