Mercedes GLS problems with the navigation system screen
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Mercedes GLS owner is experiencing issues with their navigation system, suspecting a screen failure. A similar problem was resolved for another Mercedes owner by addressing a defective cable connection between the control unit and the display, which required re-soldering. The solution involved visiting an authorized Mercedes dealer, where the issue was quickly fixed. It is suggested to check the cable connections as a potential solution to the navigation system problem.

Hey, thanks for your reply and the tip! That sounds pretty similar to my problem. Do you happen to remember how much it cost at the garage? Has anything else come up since then? Regards

Hey, sure, I can tell you something about that! I went to the garage about it and the "navigation system screen failure" was fixed. The cost was €165 to repair the cable connection between the control unit and the display. The connection was simply bad and had to be re-soldered. Since then, everything has worked perfectly and there have been no further problems. So if you have similar symptoms, it's definitely worth having the cable connections checked. Good luck and hopefully your sat nav will be up and running again soon! Regards

Hey, thanks for the info, that sounds really helpful. 165 still sounds halfway okay, I could definitely invest that. I just hope they find the fault quickly and it doesn't take as long as last time. Your experience with the authorized Mercedes dealer gives me a bit of confidence. I'll probably make an appointment tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out as well for me! Best regards

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Mercedes GLE. My display also stopped working and it turned out that the cable connection between the control unit and the display was defective, so a bad connection. At the workshop, they had to check the cable connection and re-solder it to fix the problem. It wasn't a huge deal, but also not something you can do yourself if you don't have the right tools. I went to an authorized Mercedes dealer and they fixed the problem pretty quickly. Maybe you can also have them take a closer look at the cable connections. Hope that helps you! Regards
