Mercedes GLS Steering Wheel Control Issue

I'm having trouble with the multifunction steering wheel on my Mercedes GLS diesel, build year . The car has around km on it. The steering wheel controls aren't working, and there's an error stored. I think it might be a bad cable in the steering wheel. Has this happened to anyone? What could cause this?

I had something similar on my old car. Steering controls just quit. Does the horn still work? If it does, the clock spring might be okay. If not, the clock spring is likely the problem. It's a rotary connector that lets the wheel turn while keeping the electrical connection for the airbag, horn, and controls.

Thanks. I'll check the horn. If it works and the clock spring is probably fine, what else should I check? Could the steering wheel control module be the problem? Where is that located? Do you mean on the steering column?

If the horn works, the clock spring is probably okay. Yes, the steering wheel control module could be the issue. It's usually near the base of the steering column. You should get the error codes read at a shop. They can find the exact problem. It could be something easy, like a loose connection, or a bad module.

Thanks for the help. I took it to a local shop, and they found a bad cable connection in the steering wheel. The repair was 95€, and the steering controls are all working now.
