I have not examined the wiring harness. Where is that sensor located? Could a fluctuation in the power supply to the electronic control module cause this fault?

On mine, the lateral acceleration sensor was under the driver's seat, but yours might be somewhere else. Check for damage or loose connections. Erratic voltage could mess with the sensor readings and trigger the fault. A faulty signal because of voltage issues would be cheaper than a new unit. After trying to fix it myself for a week, I took it to my workshop. They confirmed the sensor was bad and that the electronic control unit needed reprogramming.

Thank you for the insights. The location tip was helpful. My mechanic confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor is faulty, requiring replacement and electronic control unit reprogramming. The final cost is what I expected.

That sounds like what happened with my ML last year! Mine is an older model, but the symptoms are the same. ABS light, system not working, and the error code pointed to the lateral acceleration sensor. Did you check the wiring harness going to the sensor? Sometimes those connections get corroded or damaged. Is the light constantly on or does it come and go?
