Mercedes M Klasse Power Steering Issue

Honestly, I'd take it to a trusted workshop. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to steering. I ended up paying a fortune for the repairs because I delayed it.

I took it to the shop, and it turned out that the cable to the power steering was indeed defective, as they suggested. After replacing it, the power steering works perfectly again, and the error message is gone. The total cost was 95€.
