Mercedes M Klasse temperature sensor issues

My Mercedes M Klasse from 2005 with a diesel engine is throwing a weird error. The car temperature sensor seems faulty. I'm getting an error code, the AC won't turn on, the windscreen washer jets freeze quickly in the cold, and the heated mirrors are dead. Could a faulty car temperature sensor cause all this? I suspect a bad connection.

That sounds like a cascade of issues triggered by one faulty sensor. It's not as crazy as it seems. The car's computer uses the vehicle temperature gauge reading for a lot of systems. Think of it like your home thermostat going bad – it can mess with the whole heating system. Have you checked the wiring and the plug connection to the temperature sensor itself? A loose or corroded connection is often the culprit. Where is the outside temperature sensor located on your model?

Good analogy! I haven't physically checked the wiring yet, but I'll add that to my list. I'm unsure about the exact location. Do you have any idea where I can find the vehicle temperature sensor on my model?

Unfortunately, I am unsure about the exact location of the sensor. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of a connection issue, it does seem highly likely that the car temperature sensor or its wiring is the problem. Considering the potential impact on multiple systems, and without knowing the precise location to guide you, it might be wise to get it checked by a professional. The eventual repair cost shouldn't be too high.

Thanks! I took your advice and had a workshop take a look. Turns out it was indeed a corroded plug connection, just like you suspected. Total bill came to 95€. Appreciate the help!
