Mercedes M Klasse Transmission Issue

I'm reporting an issue with my 2008 Mercedes M Klasse gasoline engine vehicle, which has 54315 km on the odometer. The automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch seems defective. The check engine light and transmission indicator light are on, with gearbox slippage and unclean shifts. I also hear grinding noises during gear changes, and an error is stored. I suspect converter failure. Has anyone else seen this?

I had similar symptoms with my Mercedes M Klasse, though I don't recall the year. It started with an engine surge, then the gearbox got really rough. I'd check the torque converter first, especially the lock-up clutch. Was the error code related to the transmission?

Thanks for the response. I'll get the error code from the memory. Did your issue lead to complete converter failure? And did you experience grinding noises?

Yes, it ended up being converter failure. The grinding noise was intermittent, but got worse. I'd get it checked at a workshop soon.
