Mercedes ML Hybrid height control issue resolved

My 2010 Mercedes ML Hybrid with 243187 km has a height control restriction warning light. The low beam seems misaligned, the vehicle's ride height is uneven, the ride is bumpy, and diagnostic error memory shows a fault. Could a defective leveling sensor control rod be the cause

Sounds like you're having a similar issue to what I had on my ML. I had the dreaded 'height control restricted' message pop up, and the ride was awful. Check your leveling sensors, especially the control rods. Mine had snapped. It messes with the air suspension and throws the whole height adjustment out of whack. Does your control module show any specific error codes relating to the ride height

Thanks for your input. So the broken control rod was causing all of the symptoms? Was the vehicle also sitting unevenly

Yes, the broken control rod was definitely the culprit. It feeds information back to the control module, which then adjusts the air suspension. With it broken, the system doesn't know what height it should be at. And yes, my ML was noticeably uneven, one side lower than the other. I would advise getting it checked at a workshop to confirm. If it is the control rod, it’s a relatively cheap fix, but get them to check the sensor too.

Confirmed. The defective control rod on the leveling sensor was the issue. Replaced it and the height adjustment functions as normal. The total cost was 110€. Thank you for your assistance.
