Mercedes ML Hybrid immobilizer problem

Mercedes ML Hybrid 2011 no start immobilizer issue I have a 2011 Mercedes ML hybrid with nearly 200000 km that wont start Sometimes it fires up briefly then dies immediately The error memory shows an immobilizer error I suspect a car immobilizer issue maybe key programming I've read about immobilizer bypass options and checking the ignition control module but I'm hesitant Could the remote start system be related Has anyone seen this before

The symptoms described are consistent with an immobilizer malfunction It's possible the key's transponder isn't being properly recognized by the vehicle's security system Incorrect key programming is a plausible cause Before considering an immobilizer bypass which can compromise vehicle security I suggest verifying the key itself

Thanks for the quick reply When you say verifying the key what exactly do you mean Is there a way to test the key itself or are you suggesting I try a different key if I can find it And just out of curiosity what's the deal with these immobilizer bypass modules I see online Are they as dodgy as they sound

By verifying the key I mean confirming that the embedded transponder is still functioning and transmitting the correct code Some automotive locksmiths and dealerships have equipment capable of testing this Regarding immobilizer bypass modules their reliability and security implications are questionable They circumvent a critical anti-theft system increasing the risk of vehicle theft It's advisable to consult a qualified technician to diagnose the root cause and perform the appropriate key programming or immobilizer repair

Appreciate the advice I took it to a local guy who specializes in German cars and you were spot on It turns out the key programming was indeed corrupted He reprogrammed the key and the car fired right up Cost me 45€ which is a lot less than replacing the whole system Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction
