Mercedes ML Hybrid transmission issues resolved

My 2010 Mercedes ML Hybrid transmission is giving me fits The engine warning light keeps popping up, and I'm getting error codes related to the transmission oil temperature sensor The gearbox is going into emergency mode intermittently, and when it's not, the shifts are sloppy and sometimes slipping I've even heard some grinding noises when it shifts I'm suspecting a faulty temperature sensor Could low transmission oil be causing overheating problems and triggering the transmission sensor to act up

Dude, I had almost the EXACT same thing happen with my ML Those symptoms are a total drag Slipping, grinding – sounds like a party you DON'T want to be at Did you check the trans oil level Because when mine was acting up like that, it turned out I was low on fluid Topped it off and the overheating problems went away, shifts got way smoother Could be worth a shot before you drop serious cash on a new transmission sensor

Thanks for the quick reply You mentioned topping off the fluid Was your engine warning light on as well And did you have a specific error code related to the transmission oil temperature sensor, like I do Also, where did you find the fill point for the transmission oil I want to make sure I'm checking the right spot and using the correct fluid

Yeah, man, the MIL was definitely lit up like a Christmas tree, and I was getting some code about the transmission sensor reading wonky temps Honestly, I'm not 100% sure about the fill point location on your hybrid model ML I just took mine to a trusted mechanic to check it out It's probably best to get it checked by a professional rather than risk causing more damage

I took your advice and had the transmission oil level checked Turns out it was indeed low, just as you suspected After topping it off, the shifting improved noticeably However, the error code for the transmission oil temperature sensor persisted I decided to replace the transmission sensor, which cost me 365€ So far, the engine warning light hasn't returned, and the transmission seems to be functioning normally Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction
