My Mercedes ML built in 2012 with a Diesel engine has rough engine running and the check engine light is on The error code indicates an issue with the reset quantity drift compensation Has anyone encountered this before What insights can you offer What is the function of drift compensation and how serious is this issue

I had a similar problem with my ML Rough running and the check engine light were the same Is it happening all the time or just when the engine is cold Did you notice any difference in your fuel economy

The rough running is most noticeable when the engine is cold but it persists even when the engine is warm I have observed a slight decrease in fuel economy but it's difficult to quantify What exactly is drift compensation anyway Is it part of the fuel injection system

I followed your suggestion and took the vehicle to a workshop They confirmed a defective injector and performed the necessary replacement and system reset The total repair cost was 515€ The engine is now running smoothly and the check engine light is off Thank you for your assistance
