Mercedes Navigation Problems No GPS Reception

My 2023 Mercedes E Klasse with a gasoline engine has a navigation system that keeps saying there's no GPS reception. I scanned it and there's an error stored related to the GPS antenna. I'm guessing the antenna itself is the culprit. I'm sitting on 291147 km. I am being quoted around 200€ to fix it, does that sound right? I'm wondering if it's just signal interference or a defective vehicle GPS.

I had a similar issue with my Mercedes a while back, though it's not the same year. No GPS signal is a pain. It could be a few things. First, have you checked for anything obvious blocking the antenna? Sometimes something as simple as a phone mount or even a thick layer of ice can mess with the signal. If nothing is physically obstructing it, then yeah, it's likely the GPS antenna itself. Modern car GPS systems are pretty sensitive. It's like trying to catch a radio signal in a storm; any kind of car electronics issue can throw it off. Have you noticed any other weird electrical behavior?

Nothing obvious blocking the antenna that I can see. No other weird electrical issues either, just the GPS. When you had the problem, was it definitely the antenna, or could it be something else like a bad connection somewhere?

For me, it ended up being the antenna. The workshop confirmed it pretty quickly. While a loose connection is possible, it's less likely if you're not seeing other electrical gremlins. Honestly, I'd say bite the bullet and get it checked out. 200€ sounds like a reasonable starting point for a new GPS antenna and installation, but definitely get a proper diagnosis first. No point in throwing parts at it if it's something else.

Appreciate the advice. I'll take it to the workshop then and get them to confirm. Sounds like the GPS antenna is the most likely culprit. Thanks for sharing your experience!
