The airbag warning lamp was indeed illuminated. The error message was a general system fault related to the active hood, not specifically the acceleration sensor. I advise consulting a workshop for proper diagnosis.

Thank you for the information. The issue was indeed a defective acceleration sensor, resulting in the active hood fault. Repair cost was 315€. Your experience helped me narrow down the potential causes before taking it in.

I had a similar experience with my R Klasse concerning the active hood system fault. Check the hood latch and impact sensor. It might be related to the crash detection system.
