Mercedes R Klasse Electrical Errors

My 2012 Mercedes R Klasse with a gasoline engine is showing some weird errors. It only has 6243 km on the clock. Sometimes I get a 'Service required' warning signal, or the malfunction indicator lights up. It seems to mostly affect the audio/navigation, but sometimes a control module just shuts down. The error memory always has something stored. Could this be related to a faulty cable connection to the BUS system?

I had a similar issue with my older Audi A6. Random electrical gremlins. Systems would just go offline temporarily. For me, it was a bad connection somewhere in the control module wiring. Have you had it scanned for specific error codes? That might point you in the right direction.

Yes, the error memory does show various errors. The mechanic suspects a defective cable connection to the BUS system/control unit. Is that what you had in mind? Did they also mention a specific control module?

Exactly. They said the same thing about the BUS system connection. They didn't pinpoint one specific module initially, but after some testing they were able to trace it to a loose connector. I recommend taking it to a workshop, they should be able to diagnose the faulty cable connection.

Thanks for the information. I took it to the workshop. You were spot on. The mechanic replaced a defective cable connection to a control unit. Cost me 155€. Everything seems to be working fine now.
