Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'affects traction control,' do you mean it could cause the traction control light to come on intermittently, even when driving straight? Also, is it possible that a simple wheel alignment could resolve this, or is replacement of the sensor inevitable? What would be the approximate repair costs?

Yeah, a faulty sensor can definitely make the traction control light flicker. Wheel alignment won't fix a bad sensor, unfortunately; that's more for handling issues after hitting a curb or something. Sensor replacement will be needed. I suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thank you so much for the insights and advice! I took it to my mechanic. Turns out the steering angle sensor was indeed defective, and the coding was faulty as suspected. They replaced it and recoded it, and after everything, including labor, the repair cost 195€. The steering feels normal again, and the vibrating is gone. I really appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Vauxhall, kept getting alignment problems. The symptoms sound like sensor failure. The steering angle sensor tells the car which way you're steering, so if it's faulty, it messes with the power steering and can affect traction control. Faulty automotive sensors are a pain.
