Mercedes R Klasse SRS Light Issue
Summary of the thread
The SRS light issue on a 2014 Mercedes R Klasse may be caused by a defective connection within the airbag system. A common area to inspect is the wiring harnesses under the front seats, which connect to the airbag sensors. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be retrieved using an OBD II scanner to identify specific faults. For those unfamiliar with car mechanics, consulting a qualified technician is recommended to safely address the issue, as was done in this case, resulting in a successful repair of a faulty plug connection.

My apologies, let me clarify. DTC refers to Diagnostic Trouble Codes which are stored by the vehicle's computer when a fault is detected. An OBD II scanner is the tool used to retrieve these codes. The wiring harnesses are bundles of wires that connect to the airbag sensors, often located under the front seats. Visual inspection might reveal loose connections. However, given your lack of experience, I strongly advise consulting a qualified technician to avoid accidental deployment of the airbags.

Alright, I hear you. Thanks for spelling it out, even though it's still kinda intimidating. I booked it into the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out it WAS a dodgy plug connection. They fixed it for 95€. Thanks for the reality check!

I understand your concern regarding the SRS light. A similar issue occurred with my previous Audi A4. The symptoms appear consistent with a potentially defective connection within the airbag system. Have you inspected the wiring harnesses under the seats? Also, were any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) retrieved from the vehicle's computer using an OBD II scanner?
