Mercedes S Klasse Airbag Warning Light Issue

I had a similar issue with my Mercedes S Klasse. The airbag warning light illuminated intermittently at first, then became constant. Have you considered a defective cable or plug connection of the airbag sensor? Any minor incidents recently?

A defective cable? It hasn't been in any accidents, but is that something I can check myself, or am I asking for trouble messing with the airbag system?

Thanks for the advice. It was indeed a faulty connector to the airbag sensor. They cleaned it up and secured it properly. Repair cost 95€. Airbag light is gone now, and vehicle safety restored! Appreciate the help!
