Sounds like you're in a pickle I had something similar happen with my S Klasse Engine stalling out of nowhere, wouldn't restart Drove me nuts trying to figure it out Did you check the cable connections to the battery Seriously, that was my issue Seemed tight, but they were corroded underneath Cleaned 'em up real good, and BAM, purred like a kitten again Could also be a dodgy fuel pump relay Worth a shot checking before you start tearing into the ECU Good luck

Thank you for your insights The battery cable connections are an interesting point When you say corroded 'underneath,' could you elaborate Were they visibly corroded, or did you discover the corrosion only after disconnecting them I want to be thorough in my inspection before I consider more complex possibilities like problems with the fuel injection system

Yeah, man, 'underneath' as in, they looked alright on the surface, but once I took 'em off, the metal underneath where they connect was all green and crusty Couldn't see it until I disconnected everything If cleaning the connections doesn't fix it, then I'd be thinkin' maybe it is an ECU thing or some other gremlin If that happens, honestly, I'd recommend getting it towed to a workshop Messing with engine software or the ECU without the right tools could turn into a real nightmare Just my two cents

I appreciate the detailed explanation regarding the battery cable connections Indeed, upon closer inspection after disconnecting them, I found considerable corrosion Cleaning them thoroughly resolved the issue; the engine now starts without difficulty The final repair cost was 155€ Thank you for your time and help
