Mercedes S Klasse Error Codes and Power Loss

My 2004 Mercedes S Klasse with a gasoline engine is throwing codes and feels like it's lost power. The scanner shows an error stored in the error memory, but what does that mean? Mileage is 137646 km. Could this be related to chip tuning the previous owner did?

I understand your concern regarding the error codes and reduced engine power. I encountered a comparable issue with my Mercedes S Klasse. The symptoms were nearly identical: reduced power and stored error codes. Have you considered interference from aftermarket modifications to the car computer, such as chip tuning? What scan tool are you using for diagnostics?

Interference from the chip tuning, huh? Interesting. You really think that's the culprit? I'm using a fairly standard scanner, nothing too fancy. When you had this problem, did you notice anything else?

Given the history of aftermarket modifications, it is plausible that the chip tuning is contributing to the problem. In my case, the issue stemmed from a faulty chip tune causing conflicts within the car computer. I recommend consulting a trusted workshop for a thorough diagnostic. They can assess the chip tuning and its impact on the engine control system.

Thanks for the insight! I took your advice and brought it to a workshop. Turns out you were spot on; the faulty chip tuning was causing mayhem. Cost me 180€ to get it sorted, but at least she's running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!
