Thanks for the reply! You're right, it is incredibly annoying! When you had this issue with your BMW, what exactly ended up being the problem? Was it also the generator, or something else entirely? And did you also experience the voltage drop I'm seeing? I'm trying to get a clearer picture before I shell out almost 1000€.

In my case, it was indeed the generator. It was producing insufficient voltage, which led to the battery draining quickly and causing all sorts of electrical issues. Given your symptoms and the error codes, a defective generator seems like the most probable cause. I'd still recommend getting it properly diagnosed by a workshop to be absolutely sure, but it sounds like you're on the right track.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! It's reassuring to know I'm not completely off base. I took it to a reputable workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the generator. They replaced it, and now everything seems to be back to normal. Hopefully, this will resolve the 'car won't start' issues and the voltage drop. I really appreciate your input!

That sounds incredibly annoying! I had a somewhat similar experience with my old BMW 5 series. The symptoms sound familiar. Weak lights, starting issues, and all sorts of electrical gremlins popping up. Does the issue appear more when car electronics are consuming more power like air conditioning?
