Mercedes S Klasse hybrid engine issues resolved

My 2016 Mercedes S Klasse hybrid is giving me grief The check engine light is on, it jerks when I accelerate, and there's this awful whistling noise, like air escaping, especially when I put my foot down It also stalls sometimes when idling, drinking fuel like there's no tomorrow, and feels down on power It has a lot of km on the clock I suspect it might be the pressure sensor, but I'm no mechanic Could it be a dodgy cable or plug connection I'm really worried about the repair cost

The symptoms you describe sound very similar to a problem I had with my S Klasse The check engine light, the whistling sound (likely an air leak), and the reduced power all point to a boost pressure issue Have you checked the air intake and intake manifold for any obvious cracks or loose connections A faulty pressure sensor could definitely be the culprit

Thanks for the reply I'm not the most mechanically gifted, to be honest Where exactly should I be looking for the air intake and intake manifold Is it something I can easily check myself, or am I better off taking it to a mechanic Could it really just be a loose connection causing all this drama

It's tricky to describe the exact location without seeing your engine, but the air intake usually starts near the front grille and leads to the air filter box The intake manifold is connected to the engine block A loose connection on the pressure sensor itself (or a cracked hose on the intake) is possible However, without proper diagnostic tools, pinpointing the exact cause can be difficult For example, you can use an OBD scanner for reading error codes Given the stalling issue and potential for further damage, I'd advise taking it to a workshop They can properly diagnose the pressure sensor and air intake system

Thank you so much for your help I took your advice and booked it in Turns out you were spot on - it was a faulty boost pressure sensor and a slightly loose connection Total cost was only 95€, which is a massive relief You saved me a lot of worry and probably a fortune in potential damage The engine light is off and the car drives wonderfully again Thanks again
