Mercedes S Klasse remote locking issue

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2017 Mercedes S Klasse with a gasoline engine at 71948 km. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, remote locking/unlocking is failing, and the car now requires the key in the ignition to start. I suspect it's the bumper antenna. Any ideas? I'm thinking it could be a cable or plug connection, or perhaps an antenna replacement.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my S Klasse. Check the antenna mount first. Is your radio signal also affected? It could be a simple antenna repair or the entire car antenna unit.

The radio signal seems fine. Where exactly should I check the antenna mount, and how difficult is the antenna repair?

If the radio signal is good, then it might not be the antenna itself. The mount is behind the bumper, which is a pain to get to. Honestly, I’d just get it checked at a workshop. Mine ended up being a corroded connector; a quick fix, but they needed the diagnostic tools to pinpoint it.

I appreciate the insight. I dropped it off at the shop. They confirmed it was a defective connection to the bumper antenna and a quick antenna repair for 95€. It's all working now.
