Mercedes SL AC Issues

My 2019 Mercedes SL with a gasoline engine is throwing a fit The air conditioning just decided to quit on me I'm getting an error code, the AC blows hot air, and there's even a warning light mocking me from the dash I'm pretty sure it's the refrigerant compressor, but I've also heard whispers about the AC unit itself being dodgy Has anyone else experienced this automotive cooling nightmare I'm dreading the air conditioning repair bill, especially if it's a refrigerant leak on top of everything else I'm already looking at nearly 1000€ Any ideas

I had similar AC unit issues with my SL The compressor is a common failure point Have you checked the pressure in the system A refrigerant leak would definitely cause those symptoms

How would I even check the pressure I don't have any fancy tools, and I'm not exactly an auto AC repair guru Is there something obvious I should be looking for in terms of a refrigerant leak

Without the proper equipment, checking the pressure yourself is difficult A visual inspection might reveal obvious signs of a refrigerant leak (oily residue), but it's best to have it professionally diagnosed The defective air conditioning control unit seems like the most likely culprit

Thanks a ton Looks like I'm heading to the workshop then The invoice came in right at 980€, just like you said New AC control unit, and now it's blowing ice cold again Really appreciate the help
