Mercedes SL Air Suspension Problem
Summary of the thread
A Mercedes SL is experiencing air suspension issues, with the car failing to lift and leaning, accompanied by error messages. Possible causes include air leaks or a defective cable or plug connection to the air suspension compressor. A suggestion was made to check for hissing sounds indicating leaks and inspect the compressor connections. Ultimately, a defective plug was identified and repaired at a workshop, resolving the issue.

Hissing sounds? No, I haven't noticed anything like that. You mentioned a defective cable or plug connection. Where exactly should I be looking for that? Is it easy to access?

Well, if you're not hearing any hissing, that might rule out major air leaks for now. As for the cable and plug, it's connected directly to the air suspension compressor. Locating the compressor varies by model, but it's often near one of the wheels or under the car, somewhere accessible. Honestly, unless you're comfortable working on suspension systems, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Messing with the air suspension without proper knowledge can be dangerous. It's a pressurized system. Plus, they can properly diagnose if the compressor itself is failing or if it really is just a connection issue.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were right about the cable connection. They found a defective plug. The repair cost around 95€. Everything seems to be working fine now.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Mercedes CLS. The air suspension can be tricky. Have you noticed any hissing sounds, which could indicate air leaks? Also, a defective cable or plug connection to the compressor could cause a malfunction. Basically, the compressor isn't doing its job if the ride height is off and you're getting warnings. If the system can't maintain the correct pressure, it'll throw error codes.
