Mercedes SL Bluetooth Connectivity Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Mercedes SL owner is experiencing Bluetooth connectivity issues, unable to connect their smartphone despite checking settings and re-pairing. The problem may be due to corrupted pairing data. A suggested solution is to reset the Bluetooth module, either through the infotainment system or by consulting the owner's manual. Ultimately, the issue was resolved at a workshop where old data was cleared, and the phone was successfully re-paired.

By 'reset', do you mean disconnecting the battery? I'm hesitant without knowing the impact. Will that affect the engine management, fuel system or other modules? Is there a less drastic way to just reset the Bluetooth?

No, I wouldn't disconnect the battery unless necessary. Check your owner's manual or the Mercedes website for instructions on how to reset the infotainment system or Bluetooth module. If you can't find anything, it's best to take it to a workshop for a diagnostic. They can pinpoint the cause and clear corrupted data.

I checked the manual again, and there's nothing about a specific Bluetooth reset. Looks like a shop visit is inevitable. The pairing process was corrupted. They cleared the old data and re-paired my phone. The bill was 45€ Thanks for the direction!

Sounds like a pairing issue. Have you tried completely resetting the car's Bluetooth module? Sometimes a hard reset clears old data and allows a fresh connection. Worth trying before digging deeper.
