Mercedes SL Class 2014: Warning lights and possible malfunction of the active hood

Hey guys, I have a 2014 Mercedes SL Class with a gasoline engine and about 153,492 km on the meter. I have a few warning lights on the speedometer, including the airbag light. I'm afraid it might have something to do with a malfunction of the active hood. Have you had similar experiences or perhaps a similar problem? How did you deal with it and what was your experience with the mechanic? I didn't have such a good experience last time. Many thanks in advance!

A similar issue was resolved by another Mercedes owner, who found the problem to be with the acceleration sensor system, which required replacement by a professional mechanic. The advice given is to have the car checked by a professional to address the warning lights and potential active hood malfunction.

Hi, I drive a 2017 Mercedes E-Class and had a similar problem. It turned out that the fault was with my acceleration sensor system. The acceleration sensor system is quite serious because it can affect the control of the vehicle. In my case, the mechanics had to completely replace the sensors. It was quite a challenge to get it right, but fortunately the professionals in the garage did a good job. It was quite a procedure, but now everything is working as it should. So, definitely get your car checked out by a professional. I hope that will help you!

Hey, thanks for your reply! It's good to know that I'm not alone with problems like this. It sounds like quite a job replacing the acceleration sensors. Do you happen to remember how much you had to pay for it? And have there been any other problems since then or is everything running smoothly now? Thank you!

Hey, no problem, we have to stick together and help each other, right? So the bill for replacing the acceleration sensor was a bit of a shock, I had to fork out €315. But since then, everything is really back in shape. And as far as the active hood is concerned, it was actually broken, but the mechanic fixed it at the same time. Since the visit to the workshop, everything has been great, no more warning lights and driving is once again one of the highlights of my everyday life! You really shouldn't hesitate with things like this and have it fixed by professionals. All the best for your car!

Hey, that reassures me a little. To be honest, I was expecting almost twice as much. Good to know that everything will run smoothly again afterwards. I probably won't be able to avoid taking the car to the garage after all. Your advice was really helpful! I think I'll take the car to the mechanic next week. Then the good Mercedes will get some love from the professionals again. Thanks again for your help and I wish you a safe journey!
