Mercedes SL Emergency Call System Error

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the fuses and they seem to be fine. I should have included the diagnostic codes in my original post. They are B1011 and C1210, both related to the telematics control module and, supposedly, a communication fault. Does that change your assessment at all?

Those diagnostic codes confirm our suspicions regarding a communication fault within the telematics system. Given that the fuses are intact, and you're seeing those specific codes, the most probable cause remains a defective cable or plug connection. I would strongly recommend taking it to a reputable Mercedes workshop. They possess specialized diagnostic tools and the expertise to trace the wiring and pinpoint the exact location of the fault. The potential repair cost of 95€ seems reasonable, but it can always be more depending on the actual damage.

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like that's the most sensible approach. I appreciate you confirming my suspicions. I took it to the shop, and you were right, it was a faulty connector on the control module. The car safety system is working as expected now.

Oh dear, an emergency call malfunction! That sounds like a bothersome predicament. I've encountered similar telematics issues in Mercedes vehicles before. Before tearing into the wiring harness, have you checked the fuse for the telematics control module? A blown fuse can sometimes cause these phantom errors. If the fuse is fine, then yes, a faulty connector or damaged wiring is the likely culprit. Do you have the specific diagnostic codes that you retrieved? Knowing the exact codes will help pinpoint the problem area more accurately.
