How can I definitively rule out other potential causes for the engine light, such as issues within the turbocharger itself, before focusing solely on the boost sensor's connection?

Ruling out other possibilities without diagnostic equipment can be difficult. Given the mileage and the severity of the symptoms, the most prudent approach would be to have a workshop check the turbo boost pressure and the sensor signal with professional tools. They can also properly inspect the turbocharger itself. Sometimes a visual inspection is not enough. Is it worth risking further damage by trying to diagnose it yourself?

Thank you for the advice. I followed your suggestion and had a workshop diagnose the issue. It was indeed the boost pressure sensor, traced to a faulty connector. The repair cost was 95€. The vehicle is now running as expected.

Those are concerning symptoms. The engine light and power loss definitely point towards a turbo boost issue. Is the air intake system properly sealed, without any visible cracks or loose connections? If the boost sensor is faulty, it can throw off the entire turbocharger system. Could the issue be a simple wiring problem?
