Mercedes SLC diesel engine overheating issue

My 2017 Mercedes SLC diesel has a check engine light and overheating. A scan suggests a fault in the active air flap system. I think the electromechanism is defective. Has this happened to anyone else?

I had a similar issue with my SLC some time ago. Check engine light and all. Was it happening consistently, or only under certain driving conditions?

The check engine light is always on, and the overheating happens during longer, faster drives. Did your diagnostic also indicate the grille shutter or any thermal management problems?

Yes, the diagnostic pointed to the active air flap, specifically the electromechanism. If I were you, I would take it to a workshop soon. Driving it could cause more damage.

I took it to a certified repair shop. The electromechanism for the active air flap was faulty, like you said. The total repair cost was 590€. Hopefully, this fixes it for good. Thanks for your help!
