Thanks for the quick response You mentioned checking the battery terminals and ground connections Did you notice any specific areas that were problematic on your SLC Also, when you experienced this, did the voltage drop affect other systems, like the ECU or sensors Trying to narrow down the root cause before I potentially replace the generator

Indeed, in my case, the ground connection to the chassis near the engine mount had corroded significantly, causing a substantial voltage drop This affected various sensors and the ECU, leading to erratic engine behavior I strongly recommend a thorough inspection of all grounding points Given the extent of your symptoms and the stored error codes, it appears increasingly likely that the generator itself is defective While investigating the grounds is worthwhile, be prepared for a generator replacement A visit to a qualified workshop is advisable for accurate diagnosis and repair

Appreciate the detailed advice I checked the ground connections as you suggested, and you were spot on The connection near the engine mount was corroded Cleaned it up, but it didn't fully resolve the issue Bit the bullet and took it to a workshop Turns out the generator was indeed faulty, as suspected Replaced it, and everything's back to normal Thanks again for the help

I understand your concern regarding the generator issue with your Mercedes SLC I encountered a similar problem not long ago The symptoms you describe align with my experience I suggest you check the battery terminals and ground connections for corrosion or looseness Also, have the battery load tested to ensure it is not contributing to the problem A weak battery can place undue stress on the generator An alternator issue can definitely cause an engine misfire due to inconsistent voltage supply This could also explain why your car won't start reliably
