Mercedes SLC Injection Issue Resolved

I'm having trouble with my 2019 Mercedes SLC gasoline engine car which has done 248283 kilometers. I've noticed increased fuel consumption, reduced engine power, stalling at idle, and smoke from the exhaust during acceleration. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection in the injection system. Has anyone else experienced this or have diagnostic or resolution advice? I'd like to avoid an expensive repair if possible and want to know if I can confirm the issue myself.

Oh my gosh, that sounds terrible! I have a Mercedes, a CLK, and I had something similar happen. Smoke is never good! Is it petrol or diesel? I'm not very technical, but I did read that the air intake system can cause some weird problems. Maybe check that? I hope it's nothing major, but seriously, if you're seeing smoke, you should get it looked at soon!

Thanks for your reply. My engine is petrol. Could you elaborate on the specific symptoms you experienced with your Mercedes? Did you identify the root cause and how was it resolved? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I want to explore all options before a potentially costly workshop visit.

Okay, so mine wasn't exactly the same, but the stalling and the weird fuel consumption were definitely there. It turned out to be a faulty sensor, something to do with the fuel injection, I think. Honestly, I just took it to my mechanic because I was too nervous to mess with it myself. He found a loose connection and charged me a fortune, but it fixed the problem. If you're seeing smoke, though, it's probably best to just bite the bullet and let a professional take a look. Better safe than sorry, right?

Thank you again for sharing your experience. Following your advice and after a more thorough inspection, I identified a loose connection on one of the injectors, as you suggested. I secured it properly, and the engine now runs smoothly, without any stalling or smoke. Fuel consumption also seems normal. The repair cost was just the 95€ for a specialized tool to access the connector. Your insights were invaluable.
