Mercedes SLC Washer System Failure

My Mercedes SLC Diesel built in is having issues with the headlight cleaning system, it has completely stopped working. The windshield washer system is also dead. I've checked the fuses and tried clearing any potential clogs in the washer nozzles, but no luck. Could this be a faulty pump or relay connection? Has anyone else experienced this before?

Summary of the thread

The Mercedes SLC is experiencing a failure in both the headlight and windshield washer systems. Initial checks of fuses and nozzles did not resolve the issue, leading to speculation about a faulty pump or relay connection. A suggestion was made to inspect the electrical connector to the pump for corrosion or damage, as both systems share a common pump. Upon inspection, a corroded cable connection to the pump was identified and repaired, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I own an SLC, and I experienced a similar issue some time ago. The failure of both the headlight and windshield washer systems suggests a common point of failure. Have you inspected the electrical connector to the pump itself? Scrutinize it for corrosion or any form of physical degradation. Also, make sure that the wiring harness is securely affixed and shows no signs of damage.

Thanks for the reply! When you say 'the pump itself,' are you referring to the pump for both the windshield and headlight washers, or are they separate? Where is it located? I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing.

I am referring to the singular pump responsible for supplying fluid to both the windshield and headlight washers. On my vehicle, the pump is near the washer fluid reservoir, typically mounted to the reservoir itself. However, the precise location may vary slightly. Should your inspection prove inconclusive, I would recommend consulting with a qualified automotive technician for a diagnostic assessment. It may also be prudent to verify the functionality of the relevant relay, as a defective relay could impede the operation of the pump.

Took your advice and got it checked out. It WAS a corroded cable connection to the pump, just like you suspected! 165€ later and everything is working again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
