Mercedes Sprinter fault code issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Mercedes Sprinter with a diesel engine was experiencing a fault code related to incorrect vehicle coding, causing the engine light to reappear after clearing. The issue was identified through a diagnostic scanner. The suggested solution was to have the vehicle recoded at a workshop, which successfully resolved the problem.

The engine light comes back on pretty quickly, almost immediately. How do I check the module communication?

If the engine light illuminates almost immediately, it's highly indicative of a coding problem. Checking module communication thoroughly requires advanced diagnostic tools. Honestly, have you considered a workshop visit? They should be able to recode the vehicle correctly.

Thanks. I took it to a workshop and you were right; it was a coding issue. They recoded it, and the fault code is gone. Cost me 360€. Appreciate the help!

Incorrect coding, you say? I had a similar issue with my Sprinter. Does the check engine light come on immediately after you reset codes, or does it take a while? Have you tried to check if all modules are properly communicating with each other?
