Mercedes Tire Pressure Warning

My 2011 Mercedes M Klasse with a gasoline engine keeps showing a tire pressure warning. The display says the pressure is too low, and the error is stored in the memory. I've checked the tire pressure manually, and it's fine! Could it be just a faulty sensor? The car has 268898 km on it.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo, though it wasn't a Mercedes. Are you sure all the tires are inflated to the correct pressure? Even a slight deviation can trigger those sensors. Have you considered the possibility of a dead sensor battery?

Yeah, I've checked the pressure multiple times using my pressure gauge. All tires are at the recommended air pressure. How likely is it that the sensor battery is the culprit? Is that a common problem?

In my experience, a dead sensor battery is quite common, especially with the mileage your car has. The sensors do have a limited lifespan. Considering you've ruled out incorrect tire inflation, I'd suspect that's your problem. Replacing them isn't too difficult, but you might want to have a workshop take a look. They can confirm the fault and replace the sensor. Expect to pay around 280€ for the repair.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the sensor battery. They replaced the faulty tire pressure sensor, and the error is gone. Appreciate the help!
