Mercedes V Klasse ABS Fault Advice Needed

My 2000 Mercedes V Klasse diesel has an odd issue The ABS light is on, traction control impaired, and the ABS system seems inoperative I hooked it up to a diagnostic tool, and it's throwing a speed signal fault I've been checking the ECM and speedometer input, but everything seems ok Could this be the control unit I am trying to avoid the 1000€ repair cost, if I can

A speed signal fault on a V Klasse often points to issues within the ABS control unit itself Have you checked the odometer reading against what the ECM is registering Discrepancies there might indicate a deeper problem with data transmission It's a complex system

Yes, I checked the odometer reading, and it matches what the ECM is showing What else could cause this if the input from the speedometer and the odometer readings are correct Is there a specific pin or connection on the control unit I should inspect more closely

Given that the odometer reading matches and the speedometer input seems correct, a faulty ABS control unit becomes even more probable There are no simple solutions I could explain here I would strongly advise against poking around individual pins on the control unit without proper diagnostic equipment and expertise You'll need to take it to a reputable workshop for further testing and repair

I appreciate the advice I was hoping to avoid it, but it sounds like I'm in over my head I will get it to a workshop Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the control unit and keeping me from doing something stupid and making things worse It ended up costing me about 1000€ to replace the ABS control unit, and now everything seems to be working fine
