Mercedes V Klasse central locking problem

My 2016 Mercedes V Klasse with a diesel engine has a central locking system that's completely stopped working. I can't lock or unlock the doors, and the vehicle's error memory shows a fault. I've read it could be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else encountered this? Any ideas where to start looking besides the fuse box before I end up paying 95€?

That's a pain. Central locking issues can be tricky. Before diving into wiring, have you checked the basics like the car alarm and security system? Sometimes a glitch there can mess with the door locks. Also, is the remote locking completely dead, or does it work intermittently? Double check the fuse box too, sometimes it's the simplest things.

Thanks for the suggestions. When you mention the car alarm and security system, is there a particular component I should be focusing on? Also, the remote locking is completely unresponsive. It doesn't work at all. I already checked the fuse box, but I'll give it another look just to be sure.

Yeah, a completely dead remote definitely points to something more than just a simple fuse. With the alarm, I'd look at the control module, but honestly, diagnosing that without proper equipment is a headache. Given the cost you mentioned, it might honestly be cheaper and faster to get it checked at a workshop. They can pinpoint the exact wiring or connection issue way faster.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they found a corroded connector in the door wiring harness. They replaced the connector, and the central locking is working perfectly again. The final bill was indeed 95€.
