Mercedes V Klasse Diesel Engine Issue Resolved
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Mercedes V Klasse diesel was experiencing reduced engine power, a warning light on the speedometer, smoke during acceleration, and a strong exhaust smell. These symptoms suggested potential issues with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or emission control system. A suggestion was made to check the exhaust back pressure sensor, which was found to be defective and subsequently repaired, resolving the issue.

The exhaust back pressure sensor, huh? Where is that located, and is it something easily checked? I am not that technically savvy.

I am no expert either, but my mechanic said it's often near the DPF in the exhaust system. Honestly, I wouldn't try messing with it yourself if you are not comfortable. Best to get it checked at a workshop. Could save you from bigger diesel engine problems down the line.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The exhaust back pressure sensor was defective. Repair cost was 245€. All sorted now!

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my V Klasse diesel engine. I was experiencing reduced power and a weird smell too. Have you checked the exhaust back pressure sensor? That was the culprit for me. It could be giving false readings and messing with the DPF.
